Legendary Japanese artist Takashi Murakami is set to release another NFT collection, having previously partnered with RTFKT Studios for the CloneX project.
Dubbed Flowers NFTs, it is a collection of 11,664 flowers bearing Takashi’s iconic style.
The exact release date has not been announced, but we know it will be this spring.
Takashi’s bright designs have been well sought after in the art world, often fetching a tidy sum. Owing to their unique look, the bright artworks have been a mainstay in the fashion world since 1995, with the artist collaborating with brands such as Louis Vuitton, Supreme, Vans and many others.
His designs have also made their way to the music world, appearing on Kanye West album cover and in a Billie Eilish video. Drake has also been spotted wearing them.
Takashi has been one of the most eager adopters of NFTs, and his Flowers collection will be his biggest yet.
Flowers NFTs were initially scheduled for a March 31, 2021 launch, but the artist pulled the project from OpenSea, revealing he was shelving it until a later date.
It’s now approaching 1 year since that date, and in that period, Takashi has undoubtedly learnt a lot about the NFT space. He credits his collaboration with RTFKT, and the success that followed to helping him push ahead with his own project.
“I gained a lot of knowledge through the collaboration, and I am still learning a lot from them,” he said.
The roadmap for the Flowers project will see a release of physical collectibles such as clothing, bags and finally games. Eventually, there are plans to launch a gallery and a museum.
