The catwalk is going virtual, and this year Decentraland will be hosting a Metaverse Fashion Week.
The event will take place between March 24 to March 27 2022, and is a collaboration between Decentraland and UNXD, a marketplace for luxury fashion.
“Calling all designers, brands and fashionistas. Decentraland x @UNXD_NFT presents Metaverse Fashion Week. A week of Catwalk shows, pop up shops, after parties and immersive experiences 24th – 27th March 2022 have your collections ready!” a tweet from Decentraland read.
The Metaverse fashion week will feature most of what you would expect in the real life thing; from catwalks, to showcases to after parties.
Attendees will be able to interact and discuss fashion with each other using their avatars. And speaking of avatars, you’ll be able to purchase ‘skins’ or clothes for them, as well as accessorize them.
Virtual fashion shows are a growing trend, and UNXD also hosted the inaugural NFT collection from Dolce & Gabbana.
It will not also be the first fashion focused event on the Decentraland Metaverse. There already exists a ‘Fashion Street District’ – a 6,090 square-foot parcel of virtual land sold last year for $2.4 million.
Token.com was revealed as the buyer, with their intention being to host fashion brands, fashion shows and e-commerce storefronts.
