Singer and songwriter Akon is the latest artist to come on board the NFT train.
The star has revealed that all his future music will be released as NFTs. He said this during an interview with Esquire, after giving a keynote speech at the “Proof of Fusion” event in Dubai.
The event brought together leaders in the blockchain, crypto and NFT industries.
Akon believes that NFTs will finally allow artists to receive a fair share of profit from their work, by making the process of distribution and playback transparent.
The singer said that he will soon be releasing a new album, and it will be an NFT album.
“My next album is going to be an NFT album…which means I’ll be able to monetize it from the day it drops on every platform that exists,” he stated.
Akon is not new to the blockchain. He has been preaching about crypto for the longest time, and even has his own coin dubbed AKOIN.
His vision is to make AKOIN the principal token of a futuristic city he has envisioned in Senegal.
