One of the biggest soccer clubs in the world, Manchester United, is reportedly about to announce a mega deal on an NFT initiative.
According to reports, Manchester United has partnered with Tezos Blockchain in a $27 million per year deal. While neither party has officially made the announcement, it is believed that the club has finished filming promotional material.
The deal, according to The Athletic, will see Tezos branding on Manchester United’s training kits.
The previous training kit sponsorship deal with AON ended at the end of last season, and United has been operating without a training sponsor this season. The club has in recent weeks held talks with different companies to fill up that space, and it now appears that they have reached a deal with Tezos.
It will be the first blockchain sponsorship deal for the club. However, it will not be the first time Tezos has partnered with famous sports teams. They have previously worked with McLaren (F1), Red Bull (F1), New York Mets (baseball) and Team Vitality (eSports).
We are also seeing more and more crypto/blockchain companies spend millions on the visibility that comes from sponsoring sports clubs. Crypto.com has partnered with F1 and UFC, with Watford FC being sponsored by Stake.com
