Giant consumer electronics company Samsung is partnering with Theta blockchain to release some commemorative NFTs.
The South Korean phone maker will drop the NFTs to mark the release of their latest devices, the Galaxy S22 and S8 Tab model. The digital collectibles will be available exclusively to customers who pre-ordered either model in South Korea.
Theta Network is a video and entertainment-focused blockchain, with high transaction speeds calculated to be about 100x those of Ethereum. There are also low transaction fees, which has been a big problem for Ethereum for quite a while.
On top of that, Theta uses Proof-of-stake (POS), which consumes way less energy, making it eco-friendly and in alignment with Samsung’s carbon goals
The NFTs will be available for claiming on the ThetaDrop NFT marketplace, using a code to be found on the Samsung Members app.
“We plan to provide ongoing membership benefits and privileges to Galaxy customers who own a Samsung Theta commemorative NFT and look forward to building a long-term community among members,” Mitch Liu, CEO of Theta Labs said.
