Blankos Block Party has denied access to Russian citizens following the country’s invasion of Ukraine.
In a statement, Blankos noted that Mythical Games would suspend access to its sites and game servers for Russia, locking out players from the Eastern European country.
The company stated that the move was in an effort to advocate for peace in Ukraine.
“While we know that gaming can be an escape for many from the problems of the world and understands this suspension of service may, unfortunately, impact members of our community who do not support the Russian invasion,” Blankos said in a statement.
At the same time, Metamask and NFT marketplace OpenSea are banning accounts or restricting transactions for individuals based in countries sanctioned by the US government.
“OpenSea blocks users and territories on the US sanction list from using our services, including buying, selling, or transferring NFTs,” the platform said in a statement.
Iranian and Venezuelan users were first to be dropped.
This development comes as the US and its allies impose sanctions on Russia following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.
As of now, both Metamask and OpenSea are functioning in Russia, but there is no saying how long that will last.
