Mickey Mantle NFT

Here’s one for those who thought that mega NFT trades were declining.

A 1 of 1 NFT of the baseball card of 1952 New York Yankees slugger Mickey Mantle, has just sold for close to half a million dollars.

The NFT sold for 175 ETH, or about $470K at the time of sale.

It was a partnership between the Major League Baseball (MLB) and the Mantle Estate. It was the first ever licensed MLB NFT auction on OpenSea, the largest NFT marketplace.

The sale also happened to be the 3rd largest sport-related NFT sale ever.

“This card has been part of my father’s legacy for 70 years, and it is amazing to see its continued impact with collectors and baseball fans around the world.

“We are very pleased to share this piece of history with Topps in a new and exciting way through NFTs.”
